Selling farm and forestry machinery with a full range of spare parts takes up a ton of warehousing space, as well as precise company management. Profi Kmet needed a heating pump to match the requirements of its 800-m2 warehouse that stores tons of very costly machinery. With a view to maximum savings over the long term, they decided for a WPG-30-1 HT/HK with the most efficient source, namely water/water. Since they decided for a long-term investment, they wanted to make sure their purchase was safe, so they sat down for a consultation with us, a local manufacturer, and that face-to-face contact led to a quick solution.
Since their building is new and since they don’t use sanitary water in their work, all they needed was heating and cooling for their actual working spaces. The excessive weight of the machinery and other components they sell also meant that in-floor heating in the warehouse was out of the question. Despite the fact that they have an industrial operation, their purchase of a KRONOTERM heat pump made for environmentally friendly, simple, and affordable heating and cooling.
The hidden cost of cheap heat pumps is in protecting it from the weather, which is more expensive than you can imagine. WPG-30-1 HT heat pumps are installed entirely indoors, so they don’t require any additional weather protection. This applies both to small family houses as well as a building like Profi Kmet, with 200 m2 for administration and 600 m2 for warehousing. Profi Kmet’s heat pump needed to heat all that, which is no easy feat, especially since the spaces need to be set at different temperatures, specifically to 24 degrees (Celsius) in the office and 15 degrees in the warehouse. A problem? Definitely not. Merely a fun challenge for our experts, who conquered it happily. “To specs and delivered early.” That’s a saying that Profi Kmet loves to live by, and KRONOTERM is on board as well.
The WPG-30-1 HT is the first model in a line of so-called high-output, commercial geothermal heat pumps, reserved for large residential or industrial spaces. With this model, owners can reap the advantages of a free heat source, namely the groundwater or ground itself (geoprobe or ground collector). This choice is made in the planning period. We suggest opting for the more accessible source. Profi Kmet chose the water/water combination, taking advantage of groundwater heat through a borehole and heating both the floor and the radiators. To coax heat out of the groundwater, they made 4 boreholes up to 30 meters deep (two for extraction and two for reinjection). The system uses an 800-liter buffer tank. Every year they use up to 10,000 kW of heating energy, all of which is provided by a KRONOTERM heat pump.
The KRONOTERM WPG-30-1 HT ground/water-water model is perfect for both high- and low-temperature heating in industrial facilities. But despite its size and importance, it’s still easy to use.
